I need some advice and didn't have anywhere else to ask. My computer needs an upgrade so that I can start playing some of the newer games (Ie. MW2). Usually I've bought all the parts and installed them (or got a friend to do it). However, my expertise is not really in this area so I found some computers pre-made on Newegg. I would like to get your feedback on what you folks think about 2 of them I'm considering versus maybe just doing it myself. I tried to price one of them out by comparing the prices of each part separate and it turned out to be a bit more expensive by $150 or more, not to mention the fact of saving time from the install. Please tell me your thoughts and if I should consider something different all together.

(Buy the parts separately, save money. You can get a similar system for much much less buying parts separately. I can help with the assembly by IM or phone.)

Hi WeGo,

I get way over my head in a hurry with this stuff but here are few thoughts:

One issue with buying a prebuilt PC is (or used to be) that they sometimes use proprietary parts that can make it difficult for you to upgrade it yourself in the future if you want to. Dell used to be really famous for that back when I was last PC shopping.

I bought a Cyberpower PC about that time (4-5 years ago, I think). I was impressed with the specs for the price, but it was DOA out of the box and I was not impressed with their customer service so I returned it the following week.

After that I bought the parts from Newegg and had a friend help me build it. SO GLAD I DID! Bought this Antec case and stuffed it with parts that I can switch out whenever I want.

But then Mouse has a point, too. Um, maybe you should just keep the 'puter you have and keep playin' MOH w/ us. Yeah! Think of all the money you'll save!

Well I need a new computer regardless since it's starting to fail. Besides, I'm sure I'll still play MOHAA once in awhile and when I do it'll just be on a super computer. I do plan to buy the parts individually, I can get good quality parts that offer a warranty. The pre-made computers didn't mention who made certain parts (ie. cheapo stuff). My taxes will be done tonight so that'll decide what and how much I do decide to spend.

Buy The parts separately, you wont be dissappointed. They are pretty simple to put together and set up for the most part. Usually separately you get better warrantys , better product for your needs and money. If you do buy separately i will help you out, just send the parts to me, i will build it for you , free of charge. Then after i am done testing it (usually about 8-10 months) I will pay the shipping to send it back to you.

Wow Toxic would you really do all that for me? I'll keep that option in mind but I'm not sure if I'll take you up on that offer/Canadian scam.

Lead, you're probably the only one with those thoughts (though they are appreciated). I've thought of asking to join but wasn't sure if another clan should have to suffer my company. Ask Toxic he'll tell ya, it's probably why he never was on our TS or Vent.

Lol, We. I like playing with ya. You're fun, and I've cursed many a times when I make silly mistakes, and you seem to be right there to catch me in them, and shooting me. You should definitely ask to join! I'm sure SBS would love to have you in their clan! : )

Feminine voice huh? The real reason you don't talk while on TS or Vent is because you let Lethal7 play for you. He's not still 7 is he? Pretty sure he's been 7 for a really long time now, shouldn't he be in college by now? I will hop on TS next time I play so I'll let you know when I do.
